Discover the Serai Way of Life: Living Environment for Everyday Details

Serai architects are passionate about tradition and technology. With a deep background in academic and applied research, they push the boundaries of architectural design and construction methods, by exploring new ways technology, namely artificial intelligence, and design can merge. For them, technology rather than techno-fix is an in-depth conversation with the spirit of the time and an enabler of a more humane and responsive architecture.

Serai, originally from the Persian (sly (sarây, “courtyard; dwelling; palace”), refers simultaneously to the caravan, the courtyard, and the palace.

For centuries, architects have referred to small spaces to explore the beauty of detail, the tactile quality of material, and the closeness of forms. Serai, originally from the Persian (sly (sarây, “courtyard; dwelling; palace”), refers simultaneously to the caravan, the courtyard, and the palace. Blurring the long-term contradiction between freedom and comfort, a fusion of portability and functionality is at the heart of each Serai.

Serai One

Articulated around a central open space, a Serai is generous in natural light and provides exciting relations between different areas and functions. Its design is thought in section, rather than plan, so that inner spaces can be simultaneously compact, functional, and aesthetic, and primarily impacted by the human scale and movement.

Walls are not simple partitions, yet they are treated as infrastructures, containing and managing state-of-the-art sensors and devices in combinations with intelligent and flexible forms of storage and mobile furniture. Its dry construction system and clean materials ease its montage and future maintenance, extending its lifespan and ensuring reduced carbon footprint and waste. Beyond this energetic economy, a Serai is also equipped to harvest its own energy through its skin.

A Serai is alive, it learns, breathes, and reacts accompanying its dwellers in the small details of everyday life.
